There is no drop-off, pick-up, or parking on SW Dakota Street.

Drop-offs should only happen in the front parking lot when arriving after the 7:55 a.m. bell.

Drop-off & Pick-up Procedures

To ensure the safety of all students, no Genesee Hill students should arrive or be on school property before 7:40 a.m. While it may be tempting to come early, we kindly ask that you honor this arrival time for everyone’s well-being.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

  • Enter the lower parking lot on Genesee.
  • Pull up to the drop-off zone at the bottom of the staircase.
  • Please wait your turn—do not cut in line.
  • Students should be ready to exit the car before you enter the drop-off line (backpacks on laps, food put away, etc.).
  • Students exit from the right (curb) side of the car.
  • Once students safely exit, please pull forward to allow the next cars to drop off.
  • Students enter the playground via the big staircase.
  • Students may NOT enter through the main entrance unless they are tardy, arriving late due to an appointment, or returning to school from an appointment.

Morning Crossing Guard

  • Crossing guards are present from 7:40-7:50 a.m. on the corners of 51st & Genesee and 51st & Dakota.
  • Please wait for the crossing guard to stop traffic before crossing.
  • Pedestrians must always cross at intersections—please do not allow students to jaywalk across 51st.

Morning Parking

  • 51st Ave and Genesee are for drop-off only—no parking.
  • If you want to park and walk your child to the entrance ramp, you may park in the lower lot and walk your child around to the ramp.
  • Dakota St. in front of the building is for bike, pedestrian, and bus traffic only—NO PARKING AT ANY TIME.
  • Please respect neighbors’ driveways; all other areas are safe for parking.

Afternoon Pick-Up

  • Please park nearby and walk onto the playground to meet your student(s).
  • Older students may walk to a parent/student agreed-upon meeting spot for pick-up.

Additional Reminder

  • Per SPS District Policy, animals are not allowed on school grounds at any time. For your legal protection and the safety of all students, please keep pets in your car during drop-off and pick-up times. Even the most well-behaved dogs can be unsettled by the noise and close quarters of many children.
